Tips to keep your home dry:
Inspect your basement regularly – If unfinished, check for cracks or efflorescence (a white powdery residue), which often signals water intrusion.
Clean eavestroughs and extend gutters – Ensure gutters project at least 10 feet away from your home. Eaves must be cleaned yearly!
Check grading around your home – The ground should be highest at the foundation and slope away at a minimum of 2-3% to re-direct surface runoff
Inspect your home’s exterior – Look for new cracks or visible damage and address them before they worsen. Windows randomly breaking or drywall cracks can be an early sign of structural shifting
